The University of Hólar, which has a long and distinguished history as a research and training institute, has entered into a formal partnership with HorseDay ehf. to further develop and use the HorseDay app for training and teaching at the university's equine science department. The app allows users to get an overview of the horse's training and care, a connection to WorldFengur and a social environment around the Icelandic horse. In addition, training sessions can be recorded using the GPS signal, similar to other leisure activities, thus automatically providing an overview of important training information.
Last spring, the Icelandic app "HorseDay" made its official debut on the market. The app offers the all-important overview of the horse's training and care, features a connection to WorldFengur and creates a social environment around the Icelandic horse. The use of the GPS signal enables the user to track their rides, tours and training sessions, analogous to what is known from other leisure activities.
The University of Hólar, a highly respected research and education institute based on a long and prestigious history, has now entered a formal partnership with HorseDay ehf. for the purpose of using and developing it for education and teaching in the university's equine science department. HorseDay's intelligent concept, as mentioned above, provides a multifunctional tool to keep track of both the management of horses and the communication between different stakeholders. It offers riders and owners a new world of possibilities in which they can store, retrieve and track their relevant data and information on horse care and training.
This innovative project has been in development for the past 3 years.
Hólmfríður Sveinsdóttir, Rector of the University of Hólar, and Oddur Ólafsson, founder and CEO of HorseDay ehf, officially sealed their partnership last week at the national Icelandic horse competition “Landsmót” in July 2022.
"We are extremely happy that the modern age and its technology meets the old core of Icelandic horsemanship, and I am confident that we will thereby be able to further increase the interest in the Icelandic horse," says Hólmfríður.
The aim of using HorseDay at the University of Hólar, is to positively impact the education of horses and students and to lay the foundation for strengthening research and development projects at the university.
